England World Cup tickets continue to sell online at Football Ticket Pad and all eyes will be on Gareth Southgate when he announces his 23-man squad to take to Russia later this week.

There are sure to be some surprise inclusions and high-profile omissions from the plane to the 2018 World Cup. Sky Sports News understands that Joe Hart is the most senior casualty in goal with Three Lions boss looking likely to take a punt on Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland and Nick Pope for a spot between the sticks.

FIFA required England to name 35 players on Monday, but also needed the Football Association’s permission to publish the names, which England refused.

The FA have insisted they do not want FIFA to reveal who is in their 35 man-squad and Southgate is set to select his revised 23-man squad as early as possible to avoid keeping his players waiting. It is believed England could announce their team as early as Wednesday with several other players placed on standby before they fly out to Russia in June.

Southgate wants to begin his summer preparations as early as possible with his confirmed World Cup squad with upcoming England friendlies around the corner.

England have been handed set-backs with Liverpool duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joe Gomez both missing out through injury, with Swansea defender Alfie Mawson also sidelined.

There is also major fitness concerns over Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier, who hobbled off against Newcastle last week with a thigh problem. Trippier will have a scan on Friday morning amid fears for his World Cup campaign, which could see Alexander-Arnold get his first senior call-up.

In terms of attacking options, the likes of Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy are certainties to be included after netting a combined 52 Premier league goals this season. However, Southgate’s biggest dilemma will be who to include in his midfield.

Jonjo Shelvey, Jack Wilshere and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are three players who will be eagerly waiting for the squad announcement, with Ashley Young and Fabian Delph also doing their cause for a World Cup spot no harm after impressive campaigns at Manchester United and Manchester City respectively.

Rumours have also been circling that the England camp could be willing to take a punt on two uncapped teenagers in their squad. Trent Alexander-Arnold could be rewarded for a fine season at Liverpool with a senior call-up, with 18-year old Jadon Sancho also in contention after establishing himself at Borussia Dortmund this season. Fulham’s 17-year old wonderkid, Ryan Sessegnon also holds hopes of a call, albeit on standby.
