While it would be folly to expect the same exponential improvement, it further emphasises the goalscoring level at which he is operating. Nobody can match him.
He is one of only five forwards in the division's history to have scored 75 goals before the age of 24, with three of the other four having also represented United. Michael Owen sits top of the list with 110 strikes before 24, with Robbie Fowler second on 106 - both of them scoring all of their goals for Liverpool. Wayne Rooney was third, with 86 goals with Lukaku two goals behind.
However, surprisingly Lukaku has scored eleven goals more than Cristiano Ronaldo at this stage of his career in the Premier League and the prospect of many more goals in the red of Manchester United is a real one. It seems certain that the goals will keep coming for the forward and there are many more records ahead as he begins his new chapter leading the line for Manchester United.
