Ever since Tottenham Hotspur opened their new stadium to replace White Hart Lane, football fans have been left in awe of Spurs’ new home as it continues to attract sell-out crowds for all of its Premier League and European fixtures. Just as Spurs got used to their new surroundings their home has recently undergone an even more drastic transformation swapping goalposts, penalty areas and playmakers for field goals, end zones and quarterbacks - Albeit temporarily as the football madeway for NFL.

The Chicago Bears and the Oakland Raiders enjoyed playing at the first purpose-built NFL stadium outside of the United States earlier this month. The occasion marked the opening instalment in a 10-year deal which will see at least two games per season staged in London at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Everything went to plan during that dramatic 24-21 fixture and it was the case again when NFC South rivals the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Panthers went head-to-head at Spurs’ 62,214-seater home last Sunday.

In the meantime, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium turns its attention back to football following the international break with Spurs tickets on sale for a host of their upcoming matches starting with a home tie against Watford this weekend.

Some of the massive plus points for Tottenham include having actual separate locker rooms created for the needs of a 53-player team plus coaches and staff – not putting them in dressing rooms designed purely for football of the English kind. An artificial turf is another key aspect of the stadium, which finally opened in April after several delays. The natural grass football pitch slides under the South Stand in three pieces, which reveals an artificial turf exclusively built for the NFL.

Oakland quarterback, Derek Carr hailed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as perhaps the best he had ever played in after the Raiders beat the Chicago Bears in the first NFL game at Spurs’ new home.

Carr Said: “Everything about it is first-class. The details in every room you go in. This is one of, if not the best stadium I’ve ever played in in my life.”

Though the NFL has been making annual trips to London since 2007, not every player is keen on the idea, but Carr thinks the facilities like Tottenham’s will help change minds.

Carr continued: “I love the London trip. I’m a soccer fan and it’s cool to me that I got to talk to Harry Kane before the game. I told him I’m a huge fan and he said the same, and I’m like, ‘How do you even know who we are?’

“I think more players are understanding that this is where the game’s going so they’re definitely more accepting.”

The NFL will return to London on October 27 when the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Los Angeles Rams and a week later it will be the Houston Texans against the Jacksonville Jaguars, but both fixtures will take place at Wembley Stadium. After Tottenham’s successful debut, focus will be on the facilities and the fan experience under the famous arch, home to English football.
